Preparation for IPMA 4 Level Certification

The International Project Management Association ( IPMA ) is a non-profit, Swiss registered organization, whose function and aim is to be the prime promoter of project management internationally. This promotion encompasses research and development, education and training, standards and certification.

IPMA was formed in 1965 as a forum for the exchange of experiences amongst project managers of international projects.

IPMA membership is primarily from national project management associations from across the world. Currently there are 42 member associations in IPMA. In a true sense, IPMA is the only fraternal organizations serving the interests of all stakeholders whose interest is in modern project management. IPMA has a well known 4 Level Certification (4LC) scheme in Project Management.

IPMA's Four-Level Certification System

The main requirements for each level are derived from typical activities, responsibilities and requirements from practice.

IPMA Level A
The Certified Projects Director (CPD) shall be able to direct all projects of a company or branch or all projects of a programme.

IPMA Level B
The Certified Senior Project Manager (CSPM) shall be able to manage complex projects him/herself.

IPMA Level C
The Certified Project Manager (CPM) shall be able to manage non-complex projects him/herself and assist the manager of a complex project an all elements and aspects of project management.

IPMA Level D
The Certified Project Management Associate (CPMA) shall have the project management knowledge in all elements and aspects.

This 4 Level Certification Scheme (4LC) is well recognized and administered in over 44 countries globally. There has been a significant rise in the total certified professional under this 4LC certification scheme of IPMA.

IPMA Level D Certification is globally recognized and is Examination based. The Level D courseware covers 3 major sections. These sections are: Technical Competences, Behavioural Competences and Contextual Competences. In these 3 sections, a total of 46 competences are covered. Knowledge about these competences is necessary to be effective in managing projects across various sectors.

IPMA 4Level certification preparation is based on IPMA Competency Baseline (ICB) Version 3. IPMA-4LC is a worldwide recognized certification scheme being administered in India by Project Management Associates, India, which is the national association of PM professionals in India. This certification is accredited by IPMA under their 4LC certification scheme.

Paper 1 contains 150 objective, multiple choice questions of 2 different types.
Paper 2 has 8 questions which are numerical in nature requiring calculations or mapping graphs etc.
Site Exam -Site Exam is the final component to go through.Site Exam has 2 Papers. Paper 1 consists of 30 questions with a maximum 35 marks. You need to score 21 marks to pass Paper 1.
Paper 2 has 2 questions with maximum marks of 35. You need to get 21 marks to pass Paper2.
